2NE1 attends MTV World Stage VMAJ

4 member girl group, 2NE1 recently attended the MTV World Stage Video Music Awards Japan 2010 held at the Yoyogi National Stadium on May 29, 2010. The ladies walked the red carpet and here's my little review on their outfits :

Lee Chae-Rin (CL)
She's my favorite among the 4 members. Maybe because her outfit wasn't screaming "attention" and also something I would wear. Aside from that, CL's accessories are pretty much what was interesting about her outfit. She had tons of rings which includes the Margiela Airplane ring as well as exaggerated long nail arts which we hardly see in 2NE1. I wished CL did something to her hair than simply letting it down.

Park Bom
It's upsetting seeing her wear something which is already worn. I'm glad her stylist did not over-accessorize the outfit as the Kokon To Zai (KTZ) dress is full of details. On the other hand, I dislike the sneakers and the necklace, I wished she they picked a better choice of shoes. As much as I love the design of the KTZ dress, its unflattering and Bom should not have curled her hair. She looks "bigger".

Sandara Park (Dara)
Least favorite outfit of the night. I shall not go into details because.. it's a disaster. For anyone who say you love it, I salute you. I can't bring myself to say one good thing about it. And if you're wondering are those sneakers from 2 pairs of shoes.. its only a pair. Specifically designed in 2 different colors (mint & chocolate)— Nike Terminator Hi Supreme directed by Swagger.

Gong Minzy
Like Sandara, I can't bring myself to love or like the outfit. We've seen Minzy sporting the same outwear, Cassette Playa x Phenomenon T-shirt and Adidas Originals sneakers (huge fan) previously throughout their promotions.

Overall, I wished they wore different outfits to the Red Carpet as they were surprise guests at the VMAJ. I also wished they drop the "Fire" and "I Don't Care" looks and move onto "Try To Follow Me" looks or something simple but I'm sure the Japanese will love their outfits as the Japanese are huge fan of brand names like Cassette Playa, KTZ etc.. Sandara Park also wore pants from Japanese brand, Phenomenon.

What do you think of their outfits? Will it become a trend or is it a disaster?

  1. Xin, if you read this, could you please stop putting those girls in this mess of colors, doodles, and graffiti inspired garments?

These pictures illustrate when too much is too much! Each of these items may be outstanding on a standalone basis but it hurts my eyes seeing them thrown together like this.

And I'm seriously getting tired of the whole "i-wanna-look-fashion-forward" act that some idols are putting on recently wearing too much of Jeremy Scott, Kokon to Zai, and the likes...

    Sorry for the rant.

  2. i just don't like the whole dress with sneakers thing! bleh! all of the clothes are very trendworthy(yes i know i just made up my own word) but they would all be trendy separately, all of the together at the same time is a little bit too much on the eyes to handle.
