Review : 2NE1's Try To Follow Me

I thought if I don't start doing the review, I would never do it.
I decided not to do Style ID posts as they are extremely time-consuming and I've got other posts to do. Well, that's only for now. I'm sure hardcore blackjacks would find a way to find out what they are wearing. But I'll feature the ones I would like you guys to know like the sunglasses Dara wears in the MV. Without further ado.. here is it :

When I first saw the music video, I was really critical about it.
Why? Because it was pretty all over the place.. dance and fashion wise.

But after re-watching 3 weeks later from the release date, my thoughts changed.
"Its all about having fun! Be it the dance or fashion, its about having fun and letting your hair down!" - Thats what I thought. Or who knows 2NE1 is trying to say .. "Follow how I dress or how I dance in the video, I bet you don't dare!"

First scene (0:00-0:16) - CL's opening outfits

Love the houndstooth outfit, rocking some creepers. Very fierce! Did you notice there's a face on her tie? It also reminds me of BoA's Bump Bump MV. Then she's wearing the jacket - which look like there's a party going on. CL wears a Jeremy Scott Spring 2008 leotard underneath and sunglasses by Linda Farrow x Walter van Beirendonck. She sports some Rihanna-looking nails, long and round. Major dislike. I think its pretty scary! I like to keep my nails square when its long..

Second scene (0:17-0:37) - On bikes

I did not fancy those bikes nor their outfit. I thought it was a disaster. But if you're living in Japan, you'll probably look absolutely normal. Plaids, animal prints and creepers. Pretty dull colors, slightly punkish.

The hairstyles were pretty interesting. Weirdly loving CL's hairstyle, looking good on her but on the other hand its bizzare.

Third scene (0:38-0:48) - Crystallised CL

I thought CL did not look a single bit like Lady GaGa but Britney Spears, Toxic. Just that those crystals were not on her body but face. A downside of CL's close-up = her crook teeth.

Fourth scene (0:49-0:53) - Park Bom

Bom wears the name dress sweater by Emma Cook x Topshop, completing the look with Mademoiselle Yulia's Giza Tokyo accessories. A hairstyle which I'm not loving, awesome eye make-up and fabulous nail art.

Fifth scene (0:54-0:58) - Bang Bang Dara

Sporting the hairstyle which Beyoncé also wore, yellow zebra leather jacket from Hell Cat Punks. Colorful crystallised nail art, ?! earrings and of course toy guns. One of my least favourite looks.

Sixth scene (0:59-1:31) - Fun girl call me M-I-N-Z-Y

I prefer her make-up and nails in the scene much more than her outfit. Those jade green nails, blue/yellow eyes. Wearing a brocade print shirt (very much in trend now), outerwear with interesting studs and of course, sky-high heels.

Seventh scene (1:32-1:41) - Latex polka dot CL

Very fierce look from CL, the latex and boots really make her sexy. Not too sure about her hair but even the dance is fierce. I love this scene.

Eighth scene (1:42-1:47) - Brocade Bom

She just look like her usual self, beautiful and gorgeous.
Wearing a dress by Kokon To Zai, she also pairs it with a Kokon To Zai heels (not filmed) and Mario Schwab's Choker. Love Bom's eye make up.

Ninth scene (1:48-1:52) - Star Wars

Absolutely adorable scene, especially CL and Minzy. They probably got those Storm Trooper outfits from Adidas. Dara wears a cap from New Era x Star Wars and a pair of sneakers from Pierre Hardy.

Tenth scene (1:53-2:24) - Minzy Twins

Of course the highlight is wearing the military vest by Jeremy Scott and those sky high heels.

Eleventh scene (2:25-2:47) What I call the Jungle scene

One of my favorite scenes.
Though the dance was a little weird I love the outfits and their hairstyles especially CL's! She looked like a lion and the girls dancing in those heels is really applausable.

Twelfth scene (2:48-2:59) - Glam Chic

Its a pity the main focus was on CL and Dara. I love the fur outerwear CL sports, very margiela.

Thirteen scene (3:00-3:11) Hip-hopper

And finally the last scene, looking hip-hoppish, the girls dress in loose pants. CL and Minzy's pants are from Jeremy Scott. Dara sports a Gerlan Jeans tee as well as some awesome Alexander Wang sunnies. All of them are wearing caps from New Era x Star Wars.

Lastly, I leave you with CL blowing bubbles (;

  1. awesome post~ i love all of CL's looks, especially the black wig w/ dots. i reckon the group as a whole looks better than individual wise in the bike scene~ loving Bom's KTZ scene, it suits her so well. The one where Dara is holding those wicked guns, it just shows off her quirkiness i reckon, its dara after all~

  3. I hate to break this to you but you are CL bias much. She sported some of the most hideous outfits, yes she looks fierce but she was not able to bring it. However, I am sure that you are not able to see that because of your bias which is really sad because you should be fair. I bet even if CL will sport the ugliest outfits you would still praise her. Pathetic really.

  5. CL was so able to bring forward whatever she puts on. Anyway, I don't find any fault in any of their outfits in the video, be it bizarre. It IS a music video, and MVs are suppose to be a little fantasy-like one might say.

Dara's hair isn't like BEYONCE. I mean, who can call it Beyonce's? Even Beyonce and Katy Perry ripped it off Bettie Page. It's a trend anyway, so what if a few other people sported this look too. It looked pretty damn cute on Dara.
